Enlighten Holistic
Health is the trading name of
Enlighten Leadership Development – a
business which I, Heather Porteous,
run as a sole trader. I provide
personal counselling, coaching,
Reiki and training to private
clients.
I am on the Information
Commissioner’s Office’s register,
Reference Number: A8693416. The ICO
has been set up to uphold
information rights.
This privacy policy
will explain how I use the personal
data I collect from you when you use
my services.
What data I collect,
how I collect it, how I use it and
how I store it
Prospective clients may
send me an initial contact email
with whatever they choose to share.
This will be deleted, along with any
further email communication, if you
decide not to book a consultation
with me. If you decide to
become my client, then any email
communication between us will be
copied and pasted into my client
database for reference purposes
only, and any information that I
consider to be specifically relevant
to the therapeutic consultation
itself will be printed out and added
to your client folder. No
email communication between us is
kept in any other format.
Prospective clients may
ring me and share personal
information during our initial
conversation. In this instance I
will take some handwritten notes for
reference purposes, which I will
then either destroy immediately if
you choose not to make an
appointment with me, or will add to
your client folder along with any
further professional notes taken
during your therapy sessions.
When an appointment is
arranged, I will ask for contact
details, which are entered in my
client database. Any
information held about you on my
database will be kept entirely
confidential and will only be used
for communication purposes or in an
emergency.
During therapy
sessions, with your express
permission, I will take handwritten
notes on what is discussed, having
explained to you first my
professional reasons for requesting
this. Client notes are kept
secure and are only used during
therapy sessions with the specific
client to whom they refer. They are
never entered into my electronic
database but are stored separately.
All handwritten client information
is kept separate and secure from any
identifying database information.
No information I hold,
in whatever format, about any client
is ever shared with third parties,
for any reason, unless I am required
to do so by law or by my
professional duty and obligation.
Lawful basis for
processing personal data
I ask clients for consent to hold
their personal data on file both for
the specific purpose of the
therapeutic relationship, and also
because of my legal and moral
obligation to protect clients or
others who may be, in my
professional opinion, at risk of
some kind of serious harm.
Your data protection
rights
All users of any service have the
right to access data, rectify
errors, delete any part of it,
restrict or object to the processing
of it or request its transfer to any
other organisation. If you
wish to exercise any of these
rights, I will comply fully with the
European data protection guidelines
and with the guidelines of the
Complementary and Natural Healthcare
Council (CNHC) and the Federation of
Holistic Therapists (FHT).
Accountability
This data protection notice is
available on my website and is given
to each client at the start of the
therapeutic relationship.
